12 Years A Slave

12 Years A Slave

12 Years a Slave is a true story of Solomon Northup played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. He was an educated and free man living with his wife and two children in New York during 1840’s. He was kidnapped and sold into slavery by the name of Platt for 12 years. During his 12 year tenure of slavery he faced many cruelty and hardships. In his odyssey he by chance met a Canadian abolitionist played by Brad Pitt who became the cause of his freedom. This film stimulates at both intellectual and emotional level.

Chiwetel Ejiofor has simply given the best leading performance in accordance with the role. As a slave he could not allow to speak unless he is ready to take the beating. So he has used his body language and eyes to show emotions. He has to bear terrible things yet he maintains his dignity. His acting in the movie will make you speechless and drown in pool of emotions.

On the other hand Micheal Fassbender who was Edwynn Epps in the film has also given the best performance as usual he has given in most of his films. Edwaunn Epps is a demonic slaver and is the most disgusting character you have ever seen in a movie. In today’s world he will be taken as drunk having anger management issues.

Lupita Nyong'o plays the role a slave Patsy has also done a great work as her first movie. Her portrait is of unbearable sadness and is the epic emotion center of the movie. Her character was same as of Solomon but unlike Solomon she has lost hope in hers dignity and pride. She is tangled in the tragedies which she could not escape. Her innocence increases the tragedy of her character you will come into tears by simply looking her character.

Steve McQueen the director of the film, I must say he has exceptional eye for imagery and contrast. I have only seen this movie of his and I think it’s the master piece of his collection.

In 12 years a slave, slavery is shown as a devastating social conduct that drains humanity from everyone. To watch it is to experience a level of misery and despair that weighed you down by something considerably larger and heavier than yourself. It is a film of such emotional trauma that it will hunt you for hours after watching it. This is the best film that will show the grim reality of slavery based on racism.

Science is developing day after day and making incredible discoveries but far behind it, there reveals something like Baymax, mixture of Monsieur Hulot with an orthopedic resting cushion. Baymax is the star of a 3D computer-animated superhero-comedy film, Big Hero 6, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. Big Hero 6 has won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Animated Movie.
